Keeping Used and Refurbished Laptops Fast

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

The best way to keep a laptop running well and fast is to do simple routine maintenance which you would do with any computer. This means most importantly keeping you malware definitions updated regularly. It is a good idea to do a full system scan frequently as well. Most programs will run scans at predetermined times, once a week is a common interval. This will be a good shield from any of the spyware or malware in general which your laptop could otherwise be vulnerable to.

Keeping in the context of $200 laptops, many models have a great set of features which you may not expect to find on such cheap used laptops these days. After all some of the speeds are basically what not so long ago were considered wildly fast for a laptop. Most of them are still quick even today. The Intel processors, as well as AMD, are designed especially for laptops.

The Pentium 4 processor for example is well known for speed and reliability in the computing performance which it offers users. Some of these refurbished laptops in the $200 price range will use the P4 with either side of 2GHz clock speeds. This is without a doubt plenty of fast and speedy power capable of doing far more than just the basics. The Celeron processors are good for more basic computing tasks. These are still fast and reliable, yet they are not going to handle intense multitasking the way that a Pentium or Athlon will.

Cheap Laptops Hard Drives Performance

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

The latest sizes of laptop hard drives have been increasing steadily to the point which they are capable of holding much more than anyone could have imagined only a few short years ago. Many people are actually fairly familiar with hard drives which are found in desktop computers. They are the familiar large silver block looking thing that really is not all that interesting to look at due to the fact that most of the interesting components are to be found inside of the enclosure.

The hard drives found in any of the cheap laptops for sale under 200 dollars are going to be the same basically with one big difference and that is the actual size of the physical drive itself. Just because the used laptops under 200 are not as expensive as new ones for example does not mean that the hard drives are any different. The best way to understand the basics is to realize that these days there are basically only two different technologies which you will find in any of these laptops. One is called IDE and it has been around in computers for a very long time. The other is called SATA and it has been around for some time as well but not nearly as long as the IDE technologies.

Either type of these technologies which your laptop was designed around will provide you with essentially the same performance. There is a possibility of an increase in the speed in some instances with the SATA as it is designed to be faster. Technically it is faster but for most users the difference is very hard to detect. If you take good care of your laptop and keep any of the malware off of the hard drive then it will perform at the best performance which it can.

In situations where people are after the super fastest laptops that they can buy which usually cost huge sums of money then they may be the type who is looking to perform highly advanced computing operations. For people looking for a good cheap laptop for under $200 then no matter which technology the hard drive is, as long as the laptop is maintained properly then it can be as responsive as you would expect it to be. A responsive computer is always a pleasure to use.

Laptops Under 200 Various Drives

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

Many people take for granted things like CD or DVD players but hey have not always been as prominent as they are now. In fact they used to be quite expensive in laptops. This was actually true of desktops as well but luckily those times have past. There are a good number of laptops under 200 which have really nice drives such as these.

Traveling with a laptop computer can be a good example of how you should be prepared to have plenty of room on your hard drive for any larger files which you would need to save or generate for that matter. The CD or DVD drive is a good option for you if you have to make some extra room on your laptop for 200 for these files. This is a super easy process and should be something to plan ahead for by keeping some discs on hand while you are traveling.

Alternatively you could use an external hard drive plugged into one of the USB ports found on most laptops under 200 dollars and as a matter of fact, not too many laptops are not going to have these ports. This is basically because they would have to be comparatively older than just about any of the laptops under $200 in our selection. The time before these meant that you were pretty limited on your choice but then again files were simply not nearly as big in those days for the most part.

Used Dell Laptops Functionality

With the multitude of functionality you can find in the kind of used Dell laptops under 200 dollars provide, you can expect quite a bit of diversity in that functionality as well. It is basically a fact that most of this is actually built right into the laptops themselves as they are designed to be applied to numerous situations. Since the laptops are so portable it can be a very important aspect which they provide to their users.

This can be rather interesting and is often used as an approach which has been used for several products as far back as any individual may possibly remember. In the end though the quality is what people are ultimately looking for in a good used laptop for 200 dollars. The entire cost effectiveness is what the brands are offering and when the customer is provided something which usually they see as being important then it tends to make the choices all around less difficult to sell them on.
